A concrete jetty on Rottnest Island was fl agged as a potential public safety risk years beforeit collapsed and left three people seriously injured, according to a report that criticises theState Government’s handling of the asset.
Consultancy fi rm KPMG this morning released the fi ndings of its review into the collapseof Army Jetty on October 24, saying the State agency that runs Rottnest had failed toproperly manage the ageing piece of infrastructure.
According to KPMG, the “condition of the… jetty” had been raised with the Rottnest IslandAuthority on a number of occasions between 2010 and 2018 but no “adequate” action hadbeen taken in response.
